About Caritas Arendal

Caritas Norge in Arendal for the official start of Caritas Arendal

Caritas ARENDAL

Caritas Arendal is the Catholic Church in Arendal’s organization for welfare work among poor, excluded and marginalized people within the congregation’s parish boundaries.

This involves working with social services, diversity and integration, crisis relief and other social work with a local connection.

The activities will particularly target immigrants and other vulnerable groups.

The organization will meet people’s needs for inclusion and care, in addition to motivating international solidarity, and supporting Caritas Norway’s international aid and emergency aid work for the disadvantaged in other parts of the world.

Activities must have the character of linking people together and contribute to the overall development of the individual and contribute to people being equipped for good participation in society.

INFO CENTER

In August 2020, Hilde Mjøs in Arendal Adult Education (AVO) contacted Caritas Arendal to find out if it might be possible to establish an information center in Arendal. Among the participants at AVO was a need for help and guidance with, for example, communication with public services.

Both the Caritas Arendal board and Caritas Norway were positive about the initiative and in September Pawel Matych was hired as head of the Caritas Infosenter.

Today, the Caritas info center offers drop-in services at AVO, the Grimstad qualification service and Welcome Hub Ager. In addition, the information center receives a lot of visitors at our office.
